Marykatherine Bond tallied in the 48th minute and that would be the only goal Austin College would need as the 'Roos held off Southwestern for a 1-0 victory on Sunday. The win is the 10th of the year for Austin College as the 'Roos improve to 10-7 overall and 6-5 in SCAC play.
Austin College was limited to just two shots in the first half while the Pirates fired off four of their own, but early on in the second half, Kat Harrington found Bond, who hit a one-timer into the back of the net at the 47:59 mark to give the 'Roos the lead. The 'Roos controlled things offensively, firing nine shots after halftime to keep the Pirates at bay.
Franchesca Lozoya made four saves and combined with Laura McGee to earn the shutout. Austin College will be back at home on Friday when they host the University of Texas-Tyler for Homecoming.
