Eckart's Goal Lifts 'Roo Women Past Dallas

Erin Eckart scored in the 54th minute of action to give the Austin College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Dallas on Tuesday afternoon. The 'Roos have now won three in a row to improve to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in SCAC play.

While both teams had chances in the first half, neither side was able to find the back of the net in the opening half. Dallas held a 6-5 first half shot advantage, and the 'Roos were unable to take advantage of five first half corner kicks. However, it didn't take long into the second half for Austin College to get on the board as Tyler Marquez played a ball along the end line that was deflected up into the air, and Eckart headed it home to give the 'Roos the lead.

As it would turn out, that would be the only tally the 'Roos would need in the game as Franchesca Lozoya earned her third straight clean sheet, making seven saves in the game. Austin College held a 13-12 advantage in shots overall in the game.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
