Tyler Marquez tallied in the 103rd minute of the second overtime period to give the Austin College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over visiting Schreiner University on Sunday, bringing the 'Roos to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

It didn't take long for Austin College to get on the scoreboard, with Mandi Sherwood's corner kick finding Kyli Scott, and Scott was able to head the ball into the back of the net just 2:05 into the game. Despite some strong chances for the 'Roos throughout rest of regulation, that would be the team's only tally in the first 90 minutes of action.

Schreiner would square things up in the 78th minute when Ruth Blackburn blasted a 45 yard shot that curled into the upper left corner, just past the outstretched hands of keeper Franchesca Lozoya. After neither team was able to get the winner in the first overtime, Tyler Marquez raced down the right side and into the box and sent a shot along the ground and just inside the left hand post in the 103rd minute of action to give Austin College the win.

The 'Roos held a 17-16 shot advantage in the game, and Lozoya made five saves for Austin College while Megan Morant made five stops for the Mountaineers. Austin College heads out on the road next weekend when they take on Texas Lutheran on Friday and face the Mountaineers again on Sunday.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
