After opening the season 4-0, the Austin College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2014 campaign as they fell 2-0 to the visiting University of Texas-Dallas on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-1 overall this season as they get ready for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play to open next weekend.

The Comets came out firing from the start and never slowed down, getting 13 shots in the first half and 17 in the second to out-shoot the 'Roos 30-6 in the game, but Austin College was able to keep UTD at bay for all but a 20 second burst in the middle of the first half. UTD broke through on a Carli Beckett goal at the 27:56 mark, and 20 second later Alissa Burch headed home another tally to make it a 2-0 game heading into the break.

That would be the last score of the game as the 'Roo defense thwarted the aggressive Comets throughout the second half, but as Austin College was working to counter the UTD offense the 'Roos were unable to muster any offense of their own, with just two shots in the game's second half. Franchesca Lozoya made eight saves in goal for Austin College, while UTD's Macaire Ament stopped two shots.

Austin College opens up SCAC play on Friday when they host the University of Dallas at 4:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
