Women's Soccer Tops Texas Lutheran 1-0

The Austin College women's soccer team scored less than two minutes in and that would be all the 'Roos would need against Texas Lutheran on Sunday, winning 1-0 for their second straight shutout victory. The 'Roos are now 4-8 overall and 3-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The goal came just 1:37 into the game as Cami Mavelian scored on a deflected corner kick from Mandi Sherwood, and the 'Roos would control possession for much of the game on their way to the win. Austin College held a 14-12 shot advantage, including holding a 7-4 edge in the second half.

Franchesca Lozoya made six saves as she completed the weekend without surrendering a goal in 180 minutes of action. Erin Rose made seven stops for TLU.

The 'Roos head out on the road next weekend to face Schreiner on Friday and TLU again next Sunday.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
