'Roo Women's Soccer Battles ECU to Scoreless Draw

The Austin College women's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 0-0 double overtime draw against East Central on Sunday, bringing the team's overall record to 5-11-2 as they head into next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in Georgetown.

The 'Roos used a tremendous defensive effort to keep the NCAA Division II Tigers at bay, as ECU held a 31-10 shot advantage in the game, including a 17-4 edge in the second half. Franchesca Lozoya came on to play goal midway through the first half and proceeded to make 11 saves in over 80 minutes of action in her shared shutout.

Both teams had several strong opportunities in the match, but neither side was able to get the ball in the net throughout the course of the game. The 'Roos will be the number four seed in the SCAC Tournament next weekend and will find out who they play in the first round later today.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
