'Roo Women's Soccer Falls to No. 3 Trinity
No. 3 Trinity out-shot the Austin College women's soccer team 35-5 on their way to handing the 'Roos a 7-0 loss on Sunday afternoon.
The Austin College women's soccer team fell 7-0 to visiting Trinity University, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-6-1 overall and 2-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this season.
Trinity wasted little time getting on the board, as Shelby Guenthardt scored the first of her two goals just 2:30 into the game. The score remained 1-0 until the 26th minute when Maggie Olvera scored, and three minutes later Stephanie Segovia tallied to send the Tigers into halftime leading 3-0.
The Tigers again scored quickly to start the second half, this time with Jennifer White scoring in the 48th minute, and 10 minutes later Shelby Hopkins found the back of the net to make it 5-0. Segovia notched her second goal in the 74th minute and Guenthardt got her second goal in the 83rd minute to make it a 7-0 final.
Emily Brockette made 12 saves for Austin College as the 'Roos were out-shot 35-5 in the game. The 'Roos head to California next weekend for a pair of games beginning with a match on Friday against UC-Santa Cruz.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
