ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team found itself in a big hole early and was unable to recover, falling 87-51 on Sunday afternoon in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The 'Roos are now 7-15 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
McMurry raced out to a 28-2 lead after the opening quarter, as Austin College managed just 1-of-15 shooting while the Warhawks were 10-of-19 from the field and 5-of-9 from three point range. The 'Roos got their offense going in the second quarter, scoring 24 points with 14 of those coming from Maya Dodson, who went 4-of-5 from three point range in the period.
After trailing 47-26 at the half, however, the 'Roos saw McMurry win both the third and fourth quarters, out-pacing the 'Roos 40-25 in the second half en route to the 87-51 final score. Dodson finished the game with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, adding six rebounds, and Lexi Martin added 10 points. Emily Holland paced McMurry with 20 points.
