'Roo Women Cruise Past Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team outscored Texas Lutheran 42-17 in the second and third quarters, helping the 'Roos run away from the Bulldogs for an 89-59 win on Saturday. Austin College is now 13-2 overall and 6-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos got 19 points from Reagan Chiaverini and 11 different players got into the scoring column, and Austin College limited TLU to just 27.9% shooting from the field while knocking down 49.2% of their own shots in the game. The 'Roos trailed 12-9 early but closed the opening quarter with a 10-3 run and never looked back, pushing the margin to double figures at 29-19 midway through the second quarter and heading into the locker room leading 36-24. Austin College outscored Texas Lutheran 25-8 in the third quarter to blow things open and would coast to the victory from there.

Chiaverini hit 8-of-12 shots and added six rebounds to her 19-point performance, and Ann Savage scored 12 points with four rebounds in the win. Ally Longaker chipped in 10 points and pulled down five boards, and Katy Pool came off the bench to knock down three first half triples on her way to a career-best nine points. Austin College had a 41-17 edge in bench points, and outscored the Bulldogs 40-16 in the paint. 

The 'Roos will be back in action on Tuesday as they head to Irving to take on the University of Dallas in another SCAC matchup.
