Women's Hoops Earn No. 3 Ranking in South Region

SHERMAN, Texas - The first regional rankings of the 2018-19 basketball season were released today, and the Austin College women's basketball team clocks in at No. 3 in the South Region. The 'Roos are one of two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference teams in the rankings, with Trinity coming in at fifth.

Austin College is having one of the strongest seasons in program history, boasting a 17-4 record, including 10-2 in SCAC play. Their strong regional ranking has been boosted by a challenging regional schedule, having faced four of the top six teams in the South Region. The 'Roos fell to the region's No. 1 team, Mary Hardin-Baylor, but boast a win over the No. 4 team, the University of Texas-Dallas. Austin College split its season series against Trinity, and also went 1-1 against Millsaps, the No. 6 team in the region.

Earlier this year, the 'Roos earned their first ever appearance in the D3Hoops.com Top 25, climbing as high as No. 19 in the nation. They're led by senoir forward Bryce Frank, a four-time SCAC Player of the Week and two-time D3Hoops.com Team of the Week selection, as well as senior point guard Ann Savage, who also has a conference Player of the Week award under her belt and currently leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 5-to-1.

Austin College closes out its home schedule this weekend, taking on Johnson & Wales University on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Colorado College on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Immediately following Saturday's game, Frank, Savage, as well as fellow seniors Mikayla Gascich and Caitlyn Collins will be recognized for Senior Night.
