'Roo Women Cruise Past Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team outscored Schreiner 19-4 in the fourth quarter on their way to a 70-41 victory over the Mountaineers on Saturday evening. The 'Roos are now 17-4 overall and 10-2 in SCAC play.

Austin College jumped out to a big lead early, leading 23-10 after the first quarter and pushing the margin to 38-18 with 4:05 left before halftime. However, Schreiner would score the final six points of the second quarter to cut it to a 38-24 game at the break. Schreiner cut the deficit to 10 at 44-34 with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Ally Longaker and Reagan Chiaverini each got a bucket and Kacie West knocked down a three to make it 51-37 heading into the third.

The 'Roos would dominate the fourth quarter, holding Schreiner to 1-of-17 shooting in the period while getting eight points from Longaker to put the game away. Bryce Frank notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and West came off the bench to score 14. Longaker and Chiaverini each scored 12 points in the victory, while Ann Savage dished out six assists.

Austin College is back in Sherman for their final two home games of the season next weekend, as the 'Roos host Johnson & Wales and Colorado College on Friday and Saturday.
