Women's Hoops Picks Up Road Victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 25-ranked Austin College women's basketball team improved to 11-2 overall and remained unbeaten in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at 4-0 with a 79-54 win at Colorado College on Saturday night.

Bryce Frank recorded a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Kacie West and Reagan Chiaverini scored 18 and 16, respectively, to help the 'Roos pick up the victory. After a tightly contested first quarter that saw Austin College leading just 15-12, the 'Roos outscored the Tigers 29-13 in the second quarter to take a commanding 44-25 lead at the break. West and Chiaverini each scored nine in the second frame, with West knocking down 3-of-4 from long range while the 'Roos made 12-of-18 field goals to help build their big lead.

Frank scored 14 of her points in the second half, including eight in the fourth quarter to help ice the victory. Caitlyn Collins chipped in nine points in the victory, and Addison Walling had seven. Along with scoring 16 points, Colorado native Chiaverini rounded out her strong homecoming with six rebounds, six assists, a pair of steals, and a blocked shot while shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from long range. West finished the game hitting 4-of-8 from deep, while Frank was 11-of-19 from the floor. Ann Savage dished out five assists and grabbed seven boards, and Natalie McCoy had four assists as Austin College handed out 26 helpers as a team.

Austin College returns home next weekend when the 'Roos take on Southwestern on Friday and Texas Lutheran on Saturday.
