'Roo Women Await Winner of Southwestern and Schreiner in SCAC Semifinals

SHERMAN, Texas - After posting the best record in nearly two decades, the Austin College women's basketball team heads into the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 2-seed after ending the year tied for first in the standings alongside Trinity. With both teams holding 13-1 records in the SCAC, splitting their season series, and defeating their only like-opponent in the non-conference schedule, the top two seeds were decided by virtue of a coin flip, with the Tigers winning and receiving the No. 1-seed.

The 'Roos will still receive a first round bye in the tournament, and await the winner of Friday's matchup between No. 3-seed Southwestern and No. 6-seed Schreiner in Colorado Springs, as Colorado College will play host to both the men's and women's tournaments this year. Southwestern and Schreiner square off at 7:00 p.m. (MST) on Friday, with the semifinal game against the 'Roos scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (MST) on Saturday night.

Trinity, meanwhile, will take on the winner of Friday's earlier quarterfinal matchup between No. 4-seed Colorado College and No. 5-seed Centenary.

Austin College swept both Southwestern and Schreiner this season, defeating the Pirates 78-55 at home and 67-60 in Georgetown, while topping Schreiner 71-67 in Kerrville and 74-57 in Sherman.

If the 'Roos advance through the semifinals, the SCAC Championship Game will be played on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. (MST). Full details on this weekend's tournament, along with links for live video and live stats, can be found on the Official Tournament Website.
