'Roos Come From Behind to Advance to SCAC Semifinals

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team overcame some ice cold shooting thanks to a big fourth quarter, coming from behind to top the University of Dallas 58-54 on Friday. The 'Roos are now 19-7 overall and advance to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals tomorrow against Texas Lutheran at 2:00 p.m.

The 'Roos got 21 points and 15 rebounds from Bryce Frank in the win, and bookended the game with strong quarters in the first and fourth. Austin College jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the opening quarter but the offense hit a wall in the second, as the 'Roos managed just five points and led 24-23 at the half.

Dallas took a 43-36 lead into the fourth quarter, as Austin College once again struggled from the field in the third. The 'Roos combined to hit just 4-of-29 shots in the middle two quarters. However, the 'Roos finally managed to get back on track in the fourth thanks in large part to a 12-of-13 performance from the free throw line, outscoring the Crusaders 22-11 in the quarter.

The 'Roos finished the game shooting just 26.3% from the field and, despite entering the game as the top three-point shooting team in the SCAC, hit only 4-of-21 from beyond the arc. However, the 'Roos made 24-of-29 free throws and grabbed 18 offensive rebounds to come away with the win.

Frank made 8-of-19 shots from the field on her way to recording her ninth consecutive double-double, while Kendall Heitmeier just missed on a double-double of her own with nine points and 10 rebounds.
