Austin College Women Hold Off Southwestern for 77-73 Victory

The Austin College women's basketball team led from start to finish and held off a furious comeback attempt by Southwestern to earn a 77-73 road victory on Saturday. The 'Roos are now 14-6 overall and 6-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College led by as many as 19 points in the game and never trailed, jumping out to a 15-8 first quarter lead and heading into halftime holding a 38-22 advantage. The 'Roos still held a double-digit edge at the start of the fourth quarter with the score 54-42 before Southwestern poured in 31 fourth quarter points to make it a four point final margin.

Kendall Heitmeier hit 6-of-13 shots to finish with 19 points and six rebounds to lead Austin College in the win, while Bryce Frank recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Kendra Rainey came off the bench to hit 6-of-9 shots and finish with 15 points and Ann Savage dished out six assists.

Austin College hit 42.9% from the field and knocked down 4-of-10 three pointers, and used 32 points from the bench to grab the victory.
