'Roo Women Fall at No. 14 Trinity

The Austin College women's basketball team went back and forth with No. 14-ranked Trinity for most of the night, but 28 turnovers by the 'Roos helped the Tigers pull away and hand AC a 67-54 loss on Friday. The 'Roos are 9-4 overall and 1-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the defeat.

The 'Roos jumped out to an early lead, going on top 4-0 and taking a 15-8 lead into the second quarter. Trinity battled back to take a one point lead into halftime, and it was a 41-36 game with the Tigers on top heading into the fourth quarter. Austin College had its best scoring quarter of the game in the fourth, putting 18 points on the board and shooting 46.2% in the frame, but Trinity shot 66.7% from the field in the quarter to pull away.

Kendall Heitmeier came up just short of a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds to pace the 'Roos. Bryce Frank did manage a double-double in the loss, scoring 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Caitlyn Collins came off the bench to knock down 3-of-4 from long range on her way to 13 points.

Austin College managed to get to the free throw line just nine times in the game, and were outscored 15-5 from the charity stripe.
