Heitmeier Scores 20 to Lead 'Roos Past Otterbein

Kendall Heitmeier poured in a season-high 20 points and Austin College won a back and forth battle with Otterbein by a final score of 87-79 on Friday in Memphis. The 'Roos are now 5-2 overall this season. 

Six players reached double figures in the scoring column for Austin College, with Heitmeier adding nine rebounds to her team-best 20 point effort. Olivia Bailey added 14 points and Olivia Cicci knocked down 4-of-5 three pointers to finish with 12 points as the 'Roos pulled away in the game's final minutes to earn the victory.

The 'Roos trailed 21-20 after one quarter but, after trailing 27-25 early in the second, used a 12-6 run to close out the quarter and head into halftime leading 37-33. The lead grew to 59-53 at the end of the third quarter, but Otterbein chipped away at the margin and pulled to within two at 70-68 with 3:52 left to play.

However, Austin College responded with an 8-2 run and never looked back as Otterbein was unable to get the deficit under five points the rest of the way. Bryce Frank scored 11 points and added five rebounds and four assists, and Caitlyn Collins came off the bench to score 11 points and dish out four assists of her own. Ann Savage added 10 points and Meghan Lewis chipped in nine points, five assists, and four rebounds.
