Women's Hoops Wins Third Straight

The Austin College women's secured a spot in the SCAC Tournament with a 79-55 road victory over Colorado College on Sunday, bringing the team's conference record to 8-3. Overall this season, it was the team's third straight win and brings their record to 14-7 on the year.

The 'Roos got out to a hot start, taking a 21-9 lead after the first quarter, and never looked back. Austin College opened the game with a 12-0 run that included three pointers from Katie Gowdy and Kali Vittallo, and built on their lead in the second quarter, taking a 40-24 cushion into halftime.

Austin College kept up the pressure to start the second half and the margin quickly grew to 20 points, as four straight points from Chrissy Ray made it a 48-28 game with 7:06 left in the third. Vittallo and Olivia Cicci each hit three pointers as the lead grew to 60-32, and the 'Roos would head to the fourth on top 60-36 before cruising to the victory.

Colorado native Kendall Heitmeier scored 15 points to lead the 'Roos, hitting 3-of-5 from long distance in her return to her home state. Gowdy finished with 13 points while Bryce Frank and Ray each scored 12. Frank added six rebounds and five assists, while Vittallo finished with 11 points, four assists, and three steals.
