'Roos Pull Out Late Win over Redlands

Kelly Lynch's three-point-play with just seven seconds remaining proved to be the difference in a 62-61 win over Redlands on Saturday, as the 'Roo women's basketball team remained unbeaten at 5-0 on the year.

After jumping out to a 16-12 lead after the first quarter and taking that four point lead into halftime, the 'Roos pushed the margin to double digits in the third quarter. Redlands cut the lead to three points at 32-29 with 4:20 left in the third, but five quick points from Lynch, four from Bryce Frank, and a three pointer from Kali Vittallo helped push the lead to 44-33 heading into the fourth.

Redlands came roaring back to start the fourth, using a 15-3 run to grab a 48-47 lead with 6:26 left in the game. Austin College briefly regained the lead at 53-51, but Redlands scored the next eight points to surge ahead 59-53 with 2:10 on the clock. Frank scored four points to help the 'Roos pull to within two at 61-59 with under a minute remaining, and Lynch finished her game-winning three-point-play with seven seconds left to give Austin College the win.

Frank finished with 15 points and six rebounds to lead the 'Roos as the only player to reach double figures in the scoring column, and Vittallo knocked down 3-of-3 threes to add nine points. Lynch and Kendall Heitmeier each chipped in eight points in the victory.
