'Roo Women's Hoops Falls to Southwestern

The Austin College women's basketball team shot just 29.9% from the field, and Southwestern held a 53-39 edge on the glass as the Pirates handed the 'Roos a 65-51 loss on Saturday. The loss is the third in a row for the 'Roos, who fall to 8-11 overall and 3-6 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College trailed by just four points at halftime, with the Pirates leading 28-24 but Southwestern started to pull in the final minutes. The Pirates closed the game with an 8-0 run to take the game from 57-51 to 65-51. Erin Riley was the lone 'Roo to reach double figures, coming off the bench to hit 2-of-5 threes on her way to 10 points.

Chrissy Ray chipped in eight points and Brianna Harvey added eight points and seven rebounds for Austin College, as the 'Roos held Southwestern to just 33.3% shooting but the Pirates outscored Austin College 14-to-5 from the free throw line.
