'Roo Women Unable to Overcome First Half Deficit

The Austin College women's basketball team fell behind 38-26 at halftime and couldn't overcome the deficit in a 74-64 loss at Schreiner on Friday night. The 'Roos fall to 9-8 overall and 4-3 in SCAC play with the loss.

Schreiner shot 52% from the field and knocked down 6-of-10 three pointers to build their first half lead, with Austin College hitting just 33% from the floor and turning the ball over nine times before the half. The 'Roos needed 11-of-15 first half free throws to keep it a 12 point margin at halftime.

In the second half the 'Roos managed to pull within seven at 61-54 with 6:36 left but couldn't get any closer despite eight points from Erin Riley and seven from Christina Kime after the break. Riley finished with 12 to lead the 'Roos and Kime chipped in 11. Brittany Stepanski scored 10 in the loss.
