Women's Hoops Knocks Off No. 25 Trinity

Erin Riley poured in a career-best 30 points to lead the women's basketball team to a 78-68 win over No. 25-ranked Trinity, handing the Tigers their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference loss of the year. The 'Roos are now 8-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the victory.

The 'Roos came out could in the first half, shooting just 33.3% from the field and hitting only 2-of-11 threes, with Riley knocking down just 1-of-6 threes in the opening half before catching fire after halftime. Austin College went into the locker room trailing just 28-27 thanks in large part to nine first half points from Brittany Stepanski, along with a strong defensive effort that limited Trinity to 31.2% shooting.

In the second half, Riley hit 5-of-8 three pointers and 8-of-12 shots overall as she poured in 23 points after the half, and Christina Kime added 11 of her 15 points after halftime. Kime, who entered the game among the national leaders in free throw percentage, hit 9-of-10 free throws in the second half and 11-of-12 overall. Austin College was nearly unstoppable on offense in the second half, shooting 60.9% as a team.

Riley added eight rebounds and Kime dished out four assists in the victory, while Brooke Melton flirted with a triple double, scoring seven points, dishing out seven assists, and hauling in 11 rebounds.
