'Roo Men's Swimming Tops McMurry, Women Fall Just Short

The Austin College swimming and diving teams had some of the strongest performances of the season at McMurry on Saturday, with the men topping McMurry 113-103 while the women fell just short, with a final score of 104-93.

On the men's side, Collin Vu had a big day winning the 1000 and 500 freestyle events, along with teaming with Jake Cole, Braedon Mitchell, and Erik Gentzel to bring home another win in the 200 freestyle relay. Mitchell also had a strong day of swims, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Gentzel took first place in the 100 backstroke. Parker Adams had a strong performance in the diving events, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

On the women's side, Lauren Wheeler added another school record to her already historic career, shattering the 200 individual medley record with a time of 2:16.16, nearly three full seconds faster than the previous mark. Wheeler also came within .01 seconds of matching the record in the 100 butterfly, taking first place in the event with a time of 1:01.18. She also captured first place in the 500 freestyle. Margaux McCartney also performed well in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, taking first place in both.
