The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a solid start at the 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Thursday, with the men's 400 yard medley relay team breaking a 20 year old school record.
The team consisting of Erik Gentzel, Josh Chanin, Amit Pullarkat, and Bentley Gilbert finished with a time of 3:40.81, nearly two seconds faster than the previous record and good for a sixth place finish at the meet.
On the women's side, Lauren Wheeler finished fourth in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.79 and Jade Ross had a career best time in that same race, finishing in 29.04.
