'Roo Softball Drops Two at Louisiana College

PINEVILLE, La. - The Austin College softball team dropped a pair of road games at Louisiana College on Monday afternoon, falling 14-6 in game one and 9-1 in game two of the doubleheader. The 'Roos are now 3-11 overall on the year.

In game one the 'Roos jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning behind an RBI single from Avery Atencio and another run coming home on an error. The lead grew to 4-0 after the top of the second, as Caitlin Nagy tripled home a run and then came home on an RBI by Ashley Mayorga. However, Louisian College would explode for 11 runs in the bottom half of the inning to take an 11-4 lead and the Wildcats wouldn't look back, adding three more runs in the fourth to go on top 14-4. Austin College got two runs back in the fifth on a double by Mari Prazak, but that's as close as things would get.

Atencio and Mayorga each went 2-for-3 to lead the way at the plate, while Jordan Proctor took the loss after surrendering nine runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings of work.

Austin College scored first on an RBI base hit by Mayorga in game two, but that would be the only run of the game for the 'Roos. Louisiana College squared things up in the bottom of the first and pushed five more runs across in the second, and three more runs would come home in the fourth to make it a 9-1 final after five innings. Nagy went 2-for-3 to lead the 'Roos, who were limited to four hits in the game. Hannah Richendollar absorbed the loss, giving up nine runs on 13 hits in 4.0 innings.
