Softball Tops Brandeis; Falls to Washington (Mo.)

The Austin College softball team split its first two games of its spring break trip to Florida, topping Brandeis 9-8 before falling 13-2 to Washington (Mo.) to bring their record to 7-7 this season.

In the opening game on Saturday, the 'Roos came from behind with two runs in the seventh to earn the one run victory, as Kylee Fowler singled home two runs for the walk-off victory. Kat Wright earned the win in relief for the 'Roos, while Raquel Vara went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a triple to pace Austin College offensively.

Delaney England, Fowler, Jaylin Clevenger, and Emily Low all had two hits in the victory that saw Austin College go ahead 7-2 after four innings, before needing to come back and earn the walk-off win.

In the second game of the day against No. 8-ranked Washington, the 'Roos struck first with RBIs from Emily Low and Felicia Rivera to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first but Washington would score 13 straight over the next four innings, with four coming in the first, three in the third, and six in the fourth as the game ended via the 10-run rule.

Wright took the loss for the 'Roos, while England, Fowler, and Low each had one hit as Austin College was limited to three in the game.
