The Austin College softball team fell in both halves of its doubleheader against Centenary College on Saturday in Shreveport, falling 6-5 in game one before dropping a 7-6 decision in extra innings in game two. The 'Roos fall to 6-10 overall and 1-9 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the losses.

Austin College jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an Emily Low RBI double in the top of the third in game one, and after Centenary plated two in the bottom half of the inning, the 'Roos scored four in the fourth to make it 5-2. Delaney England and Hailey Clendennen each drove in two in the inning. However, the Ladies would add a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, and after an RBI double brought Centenary within one in the fifth, the Ladies got a go-ahead two run homer in the inning to make it 6-5 heading into the sixth.

Sophia Hernandez took the loss, surrendering six runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings of work. Raquel Vara had two hits and scored twice for Austin College.

In game two, the 'Roos plated three runs in the top of the first after Low was hit by a pitch with the bases full, and Felicia Rivera drove in two more runs with a single to make it a 3-0 game. Kierra Gaither doubled home another run in the third to make it a 4-0 game, before Centenary got on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Clendennen singled in another run in the fourth and Briana Hernandez launched a solo homer to make it 6-3 heading into the final inning. However, the Ladies would score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to send things into extra innings, and a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave Centenary the 7-6 win.

Victoria Herrera went the distance for the 'Roos, giving up seven runs - six earned - on 16 hits with eight strikeouts in 7.2 innings to take the loss. Clendennen went 3-for-3 and England went 3-for-4 to lead Austin College offensively.
