The Austin College softball team dropped both halves of its doubleheader with the University of Dallas on Monday night, dropping game one 4-1 and falling 7-4 in game two. The 'Roos are now 5-7 overall and 0-6 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In the first game of the evening, Austin College was limited to just three hits while the Crusaders plated a run in the first and added three more in the third to make it a 4-0 game, with the 'Roos finally getting on the board when Mary Whitworth drove in Emily Low in the top of the fourth to make it 4-1. However, that would be the end of the offense for both teams, with UD holding on to hand the 'Roos the three run loss.

Sophia Hernandez took the loss, surrendering four runs on five hits with four walks in 2.1 innings of work. Low, Jaylin Clevenger, and Lauren Mara had the team's only three hits.

In game two, Austin College grabbed a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third when Whitworth came home on an error and Clevenger added a sacrifice fly, scoring Hernandez. One more run came across in the fourth for Austin College when Low scored on another error, and the team's fourth run came home in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Clevenger to make it 4-0.

That's when things started coming apart for Austin College, with UD plating three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut it to a one run game, and an inside the park home run sparked a four run inning for the Crusaders in the sixth to put Dallas on top 7-4. Austin College was unable to answer in the seventh.

Victoria Herrera took the loss, giving up seven runs - six earned - on 11 hits in 5.0 innings of work with four strikeouts. Low and Delaney England both went 2-for-3, and Raquel Vara went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Austin College will be looking for some revenge on Tuesday night when they again take on the Crusaders for another SCAC doubleheader starting at 6:00 p.m. in Irving.
