Trinity Shuts Down 'Roo Softball in Doubleheader Sweep

The Austin College softball team couldn't get its offense going against Trinity University on Saturday, as the 'Roos fell by scores of 8-0 and 9-0 in the SCAC doubleheader. The 'Roos are now 9-14 overall and 2-10 in SCAC play.

In game one, the 'Roos fell in a 7-0 hole after two innings and the Tigers put another run across in the third to make it 8-0, and that's all the run support Trinity would need as the 'Roos were limited to just three hits in the game. Taylor Steelman, Briana Hernandez, and Emily Low each had a hit while Victoria Herrera took the loss, surrendering eight runs, only three earned, on 12 hits in 4.0 innings of work.

The Tigers used a big second inning in game two, scoring five runs in the frame to go on top 6-0, and added two more runs in the third to make it 8-0. The lead grew to 9-0 in the fourth and once again Austin College was unable to generate any offense. The 'Roos had five hits in the loss, with Hernandez, Sophia Hernandez, Rachel Ramos, Mallory Rossmann, and Lacy Price each collecting a base hit.

Sophia Hernandez took the loss, surrendering nine runs, six earned, on 10 hits in 4.0 innings of work.
