'Roo Cross Country Performs Well at CROOSader Dual Meet

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College cross country was home in Sherman for the first time since hosting the 2015 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Saturday morning, welcoming the University of Dallas for the first CROOSader Dual Meet, with the 'Roo men winning the meet while the women ran well against the Crusaders. Leading the way for the women was Danielle Lozano, who finished third in the 2-mile race, while RJ Navarro took first on the men's side. Lozano came in with a time of 14:06.4, while Navarro posted a time of 10:53. 

Year five under head coach Bryan Garcia opened with six 'Roo men placing among the top seven finishers on Saturday, with the women also putting three runners in the top seven. Lozano was joined on the women's side by Madison Barnum, who came in with a time of 14:30.4, as well as Jessica Hoffman, who finished with a time of 14:47.3. On the men's side, Andrew Thomas ran well with a third place finish and a time of 11:06.2. Navarro and Thomas were joined in the top five by Johnny Biffar, who finished with a time of 11:07.6, and Lucas Hermann, who came in with a time of 11:20.1. Garcia also got a good performance from Charlie McIntyre, who finished with a time of 11:25.2 to finish sixth.

Austin College also got a strong performance from Tori Dodd, coming back from injury to run her first meet in two years and coming in with a time of 19:38.9. Keeping pace with McIntyre on the men's side was Chris Biffar, who came in seventh with a time of 11:26.8. Every member of the 'Roo men's cross country team ended up scoring top seven finishes. 

'Roo cross country is back in action on September 14 when they head to Richardson to compete in a meet hosted by UT-Dallas.
