LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Austin College men's water polo team took on Division I power USC on Friday, and the Trojans proved too much for the 'Roos in a 30-3 defeat in the opening round of the MPSF Tournament. The 'Roos will now take on Division III foe Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.

The Trojans used a 9-1 opening quarter to take control early, and the margin grew to 17-2 at halftime. Austin College scored its final goal in the third to make it 22-3 heading into the fourth, where USC outscored the 'Roos 8-0 in the final frame to make it a 30-3 contest. Max Wade, Aiden Wade, and Nic Ruggiero each tallied for the 'Roos, with Evan Cueva and Gabriel Daniels each getting an assist. Ruggiero added a pair of steals in the loss.

Austin College will take on W&J on Saturday at 1:15 PM (Central), after having won the previous two matchups between the schools earlier this season. The 'Roos first defeated W&J 12-8 in Sherman, before adding a 13-6 win at the CWPA Division III Eastern Championships.
