George Washington Tops 'Roo Water Polo

WASHINGTON, DC - The Austin College men's water polo team was back in action on Friday, falling to NCAA Division I foe George Washington 21-5 in Washington, DC. The 'Roos are now 0-8 in their inaugural season.

George Washington took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, and the lead grew to 8-0 before Austin College got on the board with a goal from Will Koelzer. Another goal by Robert Griffin cut it to an 8-2 margin, but George Washington scored twice more in the quarter to take a 10-2 lead.

Andrew Pope scored to open the third quarter and make it 10-3 before GW tallied three in a row to grow the margin to 13-3. Griffin scored again to cut it to a 13-4 game, but the Colonials scored five more in the quarter to lead 18-4 after three. George Washington tallied twice more to push the margin to 20-4 before Griffin scored the final goal for Austin College before GW scored again to make it a 21-5 final.
