AC Men's Tennis Blanks TLU 5-0 in SCAC 1st Round

SHERMAN, Tex. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championships opened with an Austin College 5-0 victory over Texas Lutheran.

AC swept the doubles with Line 3 Calum Robe and Andres Padilla claiming the first point 8-2, Line 2 Brett O'Brien and Josh Granberry winning 8-2, and #13 West Region Doubles Duo Kenneth Hardy and Siddharth Kortikere winning 8-5.

In singles competition, Robe rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at Line 5, and Kortikere clinched the victory at Line 6, 6-1, 6-1.  With it also having been the first competition the Kangaroo Men's Tennis program played on their newly reconstructed home courts, TLU was gracious enough to let the remaining matches on court finish.

Andres Padilla claimed the 6th point for the 'Roos at Line 4 6-2, 6-1, Josh Granberry won Line 1 Singles 6-0, 6-1, and Kenneth Hardy won Line 3 Singles 6-4, 7-5.

All told, the 'Roos won 8-0, but for all intensive purposes, the SCAC ledger reads 5-0 as the fifth point sealed the match that was agreed to play to a final decision instead of "completion."

AC hits the courts in the Semi-Finals tomorrow at 2:00PM against Southwestern University.  The match will be played at the Elizabeth Russell Tennis Center in Sherman, TX.
