Kangaroo Men's Tennis Closes Strong at UTD Invite

RICHARDSON, Tex. - On a hot and humid Sunday, the Kangaroos slammed the door shut on the UTD Invitational and turned their sights on the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in two weeks.

  Men's Doubles began with Calum Robe and Andres Padilla charging to a 7-0 lead before finishing the top line doubles 8-4 over A&M-Texarkana.  The duos of Safe Rahman/Bryan Walmsley & Travis Fortune/Preston Spivey both dropped a pair of 9-8 doubles matches at the second and third spot.

  The Marquee matchup of the day was the UT-Dallas/Austin College showdown in singles.  Austin College took each of the top 4 matches in spectacular fashion.  Josh Granberry defeated an opponent with three wins over the Kangaroos during the 17-18 season 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10).  New Kangaroo Brett O'Brien defeated Jelev 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (10-7), and Andres Padilla won 6-4, 6-4 at the third position.

  Calum Robe won the comeback moment of the day, falling behind 2-7 in his super tiebreaker, and winning 9 of the next 11 points over his opponent, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9).
