LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Office of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tabulated the final votes for the Men's 2018-19 Tennis Season, and five names from the Austin College Men's program were recognized.
Four Men's Tennis Student-Athletes earned All-SCAC recognition, including two members earning First-Team Honors, and Head Coach Ryan Dodd earned co-Coach of the Year with Trinity's Russell McMindes for the first time in his career after earning Coach of the Year Honors on the Women's side the last two years in a row.
Josh Granberry (Senior - Plano, TX) went 9-8 at the #1 Singles Line this season, and went undefeated at the conference tournament, winning two matches and taking the first set off of All-American Junior Alexis Dimanche of Southwestern University. Granberry also went 10-9 in doubles play primarily at Line 2 with Brett O'Brien. Granberry was named to the All-SCAC First Team for the first time of his career and has been recognized as an All-SCAC competitor all four seasons.
Kenneth Hardy (Senior - Lubbock, TX) also earned First-Team All-SCAC, his third designation in the Top-10 players in the conference. Hardy went 11-5 at Line 1 Doubles this season and compiled a 5-3 record in Singles.
Andres Padilla (Sophomore - League City, TX) and Brett O'Brien (Sophomore - Plano, TX) both earned Honorable Mention All-SCAC, with Padilla going 11-3 in Singles at Lines 2-4, 12-6 in doubles at Lines 2-3, and O'Brien compiling a 10-8 Doubles record with Granberry, and an 8-8 Singles record at Line 2. This is Padilla's second All-SCAC Honor (First Team, 2018) and O'Brien's first All-SCAC nomination (Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year, 2018).
Head Coach Ryan Dodd earns his first Coach of the Year commendation for Men's Tennis after winning Coach of the Year in Women's Tennis in 2017 and 2018. He helped coach AC to an 8-8 record, a third Top-20 finish in the ITA Rankings, and a Men's Doubles Team to the finals of the Fall ITA Regional Championships. He is 46-42 in his career at Austin College, with a 20-15 SCAC record in his five seasons at the helm.
