'Roos Fall 9-0 to Boxers in First Portland Match

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Austin College Kangaroo Mens Tennis Team kicked off their spring break Portland circuit witha loss to the #9 West Regionally Ranked Boxers of Pacific University.

Austin College fell behind early in doubles competition and could not find their rhythm as Pacific was dominant in their home facility.  Singles competition would go the same way as only one men's tennis player would split sets with his opponent.

Andres Padilla took the first set of his match at Line 4 singles, but his opponent reopened the match by taking the second.  Padilla took an early lead in the tiebreak but could not hold off the Boxer's 4th singles player, falling 10-5.

"This was our first flight trip with this young team" said Coach Dodd of the result.  "We knew we were going to be playing some of the best teams our region and the Nation have to offer.  This trip will be worth more to us in a year than it may be after one day, but it's going to be up to our guys' mental toughness to see that plan through.

Austin College travels to McMinnville, Oregon for the next match in their 4 competition-slate.  Linfield College hosts the Kangaroos on Friday, March 16th at 3:00pm.
