SHERMAN, Tex. - The ITA West Region #17-ranked Austin College Men's Tennis Team opened their 2017-18 campaign with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Eagles of Texas A&M University - Texarkana.

The Kangaroos fought hard on all three courts during doubles play but were only able to claim line 2 with Josh Granberry and Pieter Jon Cabato winning 8-4.  Erik Meendsen and freshman Calum Robe fell behind 4-1 early but battled back to an 8-6 decision in favor of their opponents.

Cabato doubled up on his successful day by claiming a third-set victory on line 4 singles 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, and freshman Andres Padilla logged his first college tennis victory at line 6 singles for the 'Roos 6-3, 6-3. 

Austin College will travel to Richardson, Texas to participate in the UT-Dallas Invitational beginning this Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:00pm, and concluding Sunday, September 17th.
