Patriots defeat Kangaroo Men 8-1 at Home

SHERMAN, Tex. - The Kangaroo Men's Tennis Team posted its most competitive recent result againt the Patriots of University of Texas at Tyler in an 8-1 defeat.

Of note was the tremendous win that two young Kangaroos, Siddharth Kortikere and Kenneth Hardy, posted in doubles competition.  The 'Roo doubles duo posted an 8-5 victory over Arthur Fagundes and Vinicio Hadlich.

The Line 1 Patriots duo was the Semi-Finalists and #3 seed at the Fall 2016 ITA Regional Tournament.  The Freshman and Sophomore Kangaroo played tremendously off their 9-8(5) thriller vs UMHB in the morning, executing volleys and overheads with a beautiful combination of precision and pace.

Lines 2 and 3 would go competitively as well for the 'Roos, but the result would go in the direction of the Patriots for a 2-1 lead.

The atmosphere would only build from there as Granberry played the 9th-ranked Fagundes 6-1, 6-3 in a thrilling 2nd set filled with forehand winners and amazing passing shots.

Hardy would battled Hadlich again, but the Patriot player would get the better of Hardy in Singles, claiming a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory for the clinch.

Meendsen would fight Rodriguez 6-4, 6-2 and Line 3, and PJ Cabato gave Jose McIntyre as much as he could handle in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.  When the dust settled, the Patriots won 8-1, but the 'Roos fought valiantly amidst their 3rd match in 36 hours.

Austin College returns to the courts tomorrow morning at 9AM vs. the University of the Ozarks in their last match of the weekend.
