Men's Tennis Dominant in 7-2 Victory Over ETBU

MARSHALL, Tex. - The Men's Tennis Team of Austin College put on an impressive display of doubles and singles play in their 7-2 victory over the Tigers of East Texas Baptist University.

Coming off the earlier victory over Conference Opponents Centenary, the Kangaroos showed no fatigue from their dominant performance, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles competition.  Preston Glasscock and Pieter Cabato played from behind at Line 2 their entire match, but won a "tie-breaking" tie-breaker 9-8 (7-5).

Siddharth Kortikere continued his dominant run at Line 4 Singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory to put the 'Roos up 3-1.  Shortly thereafter, Erik Meendsen and Kenneth Hardy won their matches in straight sets to clinch the victory for the Kangaroos.

Josh Granberry struggled in the first set against his opponent at Line 1, but picked up his first singles victory of the year, winning 5-straight games after falling behind 3-6, 1-4 to force a third set super-tiebreaker.  Granberry would win the tiebreaker 10-8 to push the Kangaroo lead to 6-1.

Glasscock seemed to find his groove after the victory over Centenary College, winning 6-1, 6-0 at Line 6, and Cabato fought hard after a 3-6 first set to take 6-straight games in the 2nd set, forcing a super-tiebreaker of his own as the last match of the day.  Cabato got up early, but fell late 11-9 to the Tiger opponent.

The Kangaroos will travel to Tyler, Texas tomorrow to face Millsaps College on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler.  First serve is scheduled for 10:00AM.
