RICHARDSON, Tx - The Austin College Men's Tennis Team opened their non-traditional fall competition season with a "preview" at the University of Texas-Dallas Invitational.

In a round-robin tournament format, the 'Roos were able to get some meaningful experience and tough competition against Texas A&M University - Texarkana and the University of Texas - Dallas; two teams from AC's 2014-15 campaign.

Friday night, the Men struggled to win the majority of the doubles lines, but after a slow start to Saturday morning, the Kangaroos came back hungry and ready to compete, taking 3/6 singles matches against UTD and 5/6 singles matches against TAMU-T.

"We didn't come back as ready as I had hoped to play," said Head Coach Ryan Dodd, who opened his second year at the helm for the 'Roos.  "But after a quick pep-talk, we started playing like Kangaroos and showed some tough players what it means to be a Student-Athlete on the Austin College Tennis Teams."

When the dust settled, the 'Roos Netters played 6 match-deciding "Super Tiebreakers," 3 set tiebreakers, 4 newcomers got their first looks at NCAA and NAIA competition, and 3 of those newcomers notched their first wins in what looks to be promising careers.

AC won matches in 2 doubles flights and won 9 out of 13 singles matches on the weekend.  Austin College will hit the practice courts for two weeks before competing in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio, TX from Thursday, September 24th to Sunday, September 27th.
