'Roo Swimming Edged by Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out the regular season on Saturday at Centenary, with the men falling 101-89 while the women were edged 96-88. The 'Roos will now turn their attention to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet in February.

The 'Roos got wins in both the men's and women's 200 freestyle, with Chloe Hunt finishing with a time of 2:08.54 while Zach Magers took first on the men's side with a time of 2:00.34, and Brooke Le and Tanner O'Dwyer each took first in the 50 free. Le came in with a time of 26.40, and O'Dwyer won for the men with a time of 23.51.

Hunt added a first place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching in a time of 58.74, and Charles Smith took first in the same event on the men's side with a time of 52.78. Chris Brown came in with a time of 55.95 to win the 100 backstroke and added a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching with a time of 1:04.04. 

The 'Roos took second in both the men's and women's 400 medley relay, and Jade Kemp and Alex Lou each took second in the 1000 freestyle. Along with O'Dwyer winning the 50 free, teammates Colton Baker and Smith took second and third with times of 23.60 and 23.71, respectively. Louisa White was a second place finisher in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:12.82, while Kemp was second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:53.80. Lexi Wong added a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:13.85.
