LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College men's soccer player Juan Rodriguez has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced. This is the second time this season Rodriguez has earned this award.
Rodriguez, a senior goalkeeper from El Paso, had a big weekend for Austin College as the 'Roos went 2-0 to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament. He made four saves to help the 'Roos top Schreiner 3-1, and followed that up with a 12 save performance to earn a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory at Trinity, the program's first win over the Tigers since 1992. For the year, Rodriguez ranks fourth in the SCAC in both saves and save percentage, making 84 stops on the year with three shutouts.
