'Roo Men Earn Road Victory at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team picked up a crucial win on Friday night at Schreiner, topping the Mountaineers 3-1 to improve to 5-10-1 overall and 2-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The victory keeps Austin College in the hunt for a berth in the conference tournament, with the 'Roos currently one win behind Centenary for the sixth seed. The 'Roos play their final scheduled game of the year at Trinity on Sunday, but could still make up their previously postponed home match against St. Thomas early next week.

Austin College fell behind against Schreiner in the 24th minute of action, and remained in a 1-0 deficit until midway through the second half when Xander Spurlock evened things up in the 63rd minute. The go-ahead goal, and eventual game-winner, came less than a minute later when Ahmet Ramovic tallied on an assist from Isaiah Wingeier-Rayo, and Ramovic would score again in the 85th minute to put the game away.

The 'Roos owned a 14-to-11 shot advantage in the game, and Juan Rodriguez made four saves in goal for the 'Roos to earn the victory.
