Luundo's Golden Goal Lifts 'Roos Past Centenary

SHERMAN, Texas - Jean Luundo made his senior day a memorable one on Sunday, scoring a golden goal in the 105th minute of action to give the Austin College men's soccer team a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Centenary. The 'Roos are now 4-10-1 overall and 1-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The game was a defensive struggle throughout, with both sides finding their attacking chances repeatedly turned away. Centenary managed just four shots on goal in the opening frame while the 'Roos only managed to put a pair of shots on frame. The second half saw Austin College become the aggressor, though both sides had numerous chances but could not capitalize. Austin College found itself with a penalty kick opportunity at the 61 minute mark but Centenary's Sami Borchalli made the save to keep things level and force overtime.

Austin College ramped up its offensive attack in the first overtime, firing six shots but unable to find the back of the net, but in the second overtime Cesar Escobar sent a through ball to Luundo, who found himself one on one with the keeper, and the senior capitalized.

The 'Roos held a 27-to-18 advantage in shot attempts, with Juan Rodriguez making eight stops to earn the clean sheet. Borchalli finished with nine saves for Centenary.
