Men's Soccer Tops East Texas Baptist

MARSHALL, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team notched its first win of the 2019 season on Friday night, scoring once in each half to top East Texas Baptist 2-0. The 'Roos are now 1-2 to open the year.

East Texas Baptist controlled possession for much of the game and owned a 20-to-6 shot advantage, but Austin College made their shots count, with Cesar Escobar finding the next in the 12th minute to put the 'Roos on top 1-0. That remained the score heading into the second half, with ETBU putting pressure on Austin College keeper Juan Rodriguez, firing 13 shots after the break. However, Rodriguez came up with five big saves to keep the Tigers off the board and Ahmet Ramovic added a late insurance goal to make it 2-0 and secure the win.

Rodriguez finished with six saves in the game for the 'Roos, who will be looking to make it two in a row when they take on LeTourneau on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in Longview.
