Men's Soccer Falls to Wisconsin-Superior

SHERMAN, Texas - Wisconsin-Superior scored twice in under a minute midway through the first half and the Austin College men's soccer team was never able to recover, falling 4-0 to the visiting Yellowjackets on Friday night at the Dr. Jack Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex.

The season opener got off to a slow start for both teams before Wisconsin-Superior tallied at the 26:07 mark to take a 1-0 lead, and just 37 seconds later, the Yellowjackets took advantage of a defensive miscue to double the margin on a goal by Blake Hanson. The score would remain 2-0 heading into halftime, but UWS added another score from Hanson in the 63rd minute to make it a 3-0 game.

Wisconsin-Superior would find the net one more time, as Sam Waylee scored in the 80th minute of action to make it a 4-0 final. The Yellowjackets held a 17-12 advantage in shots in the game, including putting eight shots on goal compared to three for the 'Roos. Juan Rodriguez made four saves for the 'Roos.

Austin College will look to bounce back on Sunday when they host the University of Texas-Dallas at 2:00 p.m.
