'Roos Hold Off TLU for 1-0 Victory

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team guaranteed at least a .500 finish in SCAC play on Friday, topping Texas Lutheran 1-0 to bring the team's SCAC mark to 6-5-1. The 'Roos are 7-5-2 overall on the year.

After a slow start offensively for both sides, the 'Roos got on the board in the 21st minute of action when Xander Spurlock drove down the right side of the field and managed to put a shot past TLU keeper Brendan Soto to make it a 1-0 game. That's how things would stand heading into halftime, and despite the Bulldogs owning an 8-6 edge in shot attempts in the second half, the 'Roos managed to complete the shutout. Texas Lutheran finished the game with a 12-10 advantage in shots, with Joseph Khalaf making seven saves in the match.
