No. 4 Trinity Edges 'Roo Men's Soccer

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team had several outstanding chances but were unable to find the equalizer down the stretch in a 2-1 loss to No. 4-ranked Trinity University on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 5-3-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Trinity got on the board quickly with Jacob Hallenberger finding the net from five yards out in the 5th minute of action, and Austin Michaelis scored in the 22nd minute to make it a 2-0 lead for the Tigers. That's how things would stay, despite both sides getting several quality opportunities. Austin College's Phillip Le saw his header go just wide, and a long pass into the box sailed just past the foot of Juan Ramirez late in the half.

In the second half, the Austin College defense held strong against Trinity, limiting the chances for the Tigers while the 'Roos found the net just over 60 minutes into the match. Ramirez sent a free kick into the box, and Sebastian Bohlmann headed it home inside the left post to make it a 2-1 game.

However, that's how things would end as Austin College got two more shots in the games final minutes but were unable to tally on either. Trinity held a 16-10 advantage in shots in the game, though Austin College had a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
