'Roos Roll Past George Fox

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team put three goals on the board in the first half and that's all they'd need, as the 'Roos topped visiting George Fox University 3-0 on Saturday evening. Austin College is now 2-0 to open the year.

Austin College got on the board early, as Chris Abad-Jacobi ripped a free kick inside the right post from 25 yards away in the 11th minute of action. Two of the team's three goals came from set pieces.

Abad-Jacobi got into the box score again with an assist on the second goal, sliding a pass through the middle to Thomas Quick, who finished in the 24th minute to make it a 2-0 game. The 'Roos would tally once more in the half, this time with Taylor Goyen's corner kick setting up a diving header by Brandon Harner in the middle of the box in the 36th minute to make it a 3-0 game heading into the break.

Both teams had scoring opportunities in the second half but neither was able to find the net, and Juan Rodriguez came on to close out a shared shutout with Joseph Khalaf and the 'Roos. Khalaf made three saves and Rodriguez made one in the victory, as both teams fired 11 shots in the match.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
