Men's Soccer Opens Season with Big Win over Texas-Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team got a big win to open the year, topping the University of Texas-Dallas, the preseason favorite to win the American Southwest Conference, 2-1 on the road in Richardson. UTD is also the defending ASC champion, and this also marks the first time Austin College has beaten the Comets since 2005.

The Comets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute of action and held that margin at halftime, but Phillip Le squared things up in the 50th minute on a feed from Thomas Quick. The scored remained tied until the 72nd minute, when Sebastian Bohlmann found Adam Williams, who beat the keeper one on one for his first collegiate tally, giving Austin College the 2-1 lead. The score by Williams would prove to be the game-winner, as Joseph Khalaf made seven stops and Austin College would hold off UTD down the stretch.

Texas-Dallas out-shot Austin College 25-10, but the 'Roos scored both times they put the ball on frame. The 'Roos will be looking to keep their momentum going tomorrow when they return to Sherman to host George Fox University at 5:00 p.m.
